The Mayor of Ferndown Mrs. Jean Read spoke at our recent meal in Hope Church where we were celebrating 8 years being in operation here in the Heatherlands Estate. It was Councillor Jean Read who opened The Bus Stop Club all those years ago when she was the Mayor during that year. At the time it had identified that Ferndown was in need of a place where local people could go for companionship, guidance and support generally. A place where families could meet, and kids could access computers to do their homework, where mums could come together and have a cup of tea.
We have seen the charity expand and change its direction to cater for cultural changes over the last 10 years. We see more people accessing the centre for advice on money matters, housing (with the help of the charity First Point), for one-to-one support and to access food which has been donated by people shopping at Sainsbury’s, local churches and Tesco’s, aswell as the ‘Art for Health’ workshop.
