Smiling Susan Cooking 60 Christmas Dinners

The Bus Stop Club broke its record this Christmas by cooking and delivering a total of 60 Christmas dinners to individuals and families we support! This was in place of having a sit down meal together at the Centre with clients and volunteers from our various projects including After School Craft, CAP Debt Centre, MOAT Courses (1:2:1 Management of Anxiety and Trauma Recovery), Food Store Cupboard and many others who receive our support.

Each dinner was delivered to the door by one of our super volunteers with a smile and a large goody bag full of generously donated groceries and treats. We say a big thank you again to all involved from those donating and collecting food supplies to assembling meals and goody bags to driving and delivering them. Thank you! Clients have said what a difference this made at this time, with some texting or sending us a Christmas card saying thank you!

The Zip Wire Challenge 2017

Our summer sponsored challenge organized by Derek Howshall started last Saturday at 10:00am outside St. Mary’s Church in Ferndown, as the town crier Mike Andrews called everyone together to listen to Ferndown Mayor Cathy Lugg officially open the Zip Wire Challenge. The event was managed by Dave Talbot Adventure Ltd who we know well from last years abseil challenge.

First down the wire was the Deputy Mayor Steve Lugg dressed as Superman followed ‘hot on the wire’ by our Project Manager Susan Sutherland. Many people took part in the challenge throughout the day, Councillor Terry Cordery, Barrington Centre Manager Andy Bryant, team members from the Bus Stop Club, as well as several local people, one whom came dressed as a 1980’s free spirited lady.

As is the same again this year, we are raising funds to finance the continued operation of our Centre, home of our Charity so that we can support local families and vulnerable adults from in and around Ferndown.

Project Manager Susan said “It was a glorious day for the event and we thank everyone who stepped over the tower edge and zipped down the wire. We would also like to thank everyone who raised money through sponsorship which will help fund the many projects we aim to continue running at the centre.”
